Mexican Amber with Insect Larvae

This large, deeply hued amber specimen from Chiapas, Mexico is approximately 24 million years old. A visually arresting shape, it boasts multiple air pockets that are often caused by branches and other material that has since eroded. This piece also features a plethora of perfectly preserved maggots and their larvae. A fascinating addition to any collection. The cube in the photo is approximately one centimeter.
