The name of the species of this unbelievably gemmy, saturated, electric-hued tangerine garnet comes from the place where it was first discovered: the Spessart Mountains, Afschaffenburg District, Bavaria, Germany.  Specimens of this exact near-neon orange are most coveted, and this is a prime example with minimal contact and incredible vibrancy.
