Amber is fossilized tree resin and has been appreciated for its color and natural beauty since Neolithic times. This teardrop-shaped, approximately 40 million year old hand-polished specimen of Baltic amber features a fully preserved lepidopteran visible in great detail. The cube in the photo is one centimeter.
